Shoshone Point
If you'd like to add a special add-on hike to a day hike in Grand Canyon, check out Shoshone Point, an easy-to-get-to, uncrowded spectacular, more remote viewpoint. It's an easy one-mile hike from a small dirt parking lot.
You will find an unsigned turn-off on the north side of Desert View Drive (Highway 64) 1.2 miles (1.9 km) east of Yaki Point Road and just west of mile marker 246. A locked gate limits access to the unpaved, single lane road that leads one mile (1.6 km) through the forest to the event area.

Re: Shoshone Point
Shoshone is a great option for an add-on hike or when we have to think on our feet like we do occasionally as guides. I do this when I have guests that I think are going to struggle and we only make it down to say ooh aah point or cedar ridge. Hike them back up and if time is permitting I go out to shosone point. That way guests don't feel cheated and they usually enjoy/can do the easy walk to shoshone point. Great Point Matt, thanks for sharing!

Re: Shoshone Point
While this is all great information Matt and I posted about it too the National park service is now not permitting CUA holders to acces Shoshone point at all... I have no idea why but they changed It in the CUA and didn't tell us.
